I posted this in the campground section but thought this may be the better place.

I have had a job offer to work in the Carlsbad area this winter. I have been to the caverns but any info about the area would be appreciated. I am concerned about the weather. I think it may be to cold.

Thanks

We spent last winter in the Carlsbad area. We were half way between Carlsbad and Artesia. Both cities have Walmarts. Restaurants are better in Artesia imo. Good non-denomination church, Paradise Chapel near Carlsbad. There seem to be more jobs than places to live. Hope you have your living space reserved. It was cold last winter and we did get a little snow. If you are working outside I would have warm cloths, long johns and good gloves and hat. It often warms up in the daytime but when the sun goes down it gets cold. Also it can be windy. We rarely put out our awing and never left it out.

Carlsbad is warmer than Roswell. You will need a coat. It rarely snows but it will still hit freezing, especially overnight. Heat tape your hose the right way (single line not spiral wrapped, foam or neoprene pipe insulation over all) and you should be good.
