Cleaning Fantastic Fans from inside?

I just did mine from inside the Rv. I used simple green in a spray bottle, paper towels and removed the phillips head scres from the screen, washed the screen, then the blades and housing, put back together...15 minutes a fan maybe!

I usually clean mine a few times a year from the inside with my air compressor. No need to remove anything. Just blow compressed air through the screen while the fan is running and exhausting air from the RV.

I also clean the window screens the same way with the air compressor.

Works fine for me.

I don't know why you guys are taking the fan off. I remove the screen, carefully prying one tab at a time, and wipe both sides with a damp paper towel. Then use the same towel to wipe the blades and I'm done. About five minutes of "work". Maybe you're waiting too long to do it and the dirt build up it pretty thick.

These fans move a lot of air and should be cleaned often. Don't forget the screens in your trailer windows. Air out equals air in. Each one of them is a filter in it's own right. The cleaner you keep them, the more efficiently you remove heat in your rig. I calculated the Two fans in our trailer can change-out the total air volume about three times per minute on high. That's a lot of air!

I'd like to hear about this also... I just cleaned mine and also didn't want to pull too hard to get the blade assembly off after taking the screw out. Did get it all shiny clean though - had some Asian Stink Bug guts stuck to the blades. Eew.

I've pulled the cover and fans several times from our FFans. You "should" be able to wiggle the fan off by wiggling two opposite blades, then two other opposite blades.

The vent cover tabs just need to be depressed and clicked open at the same time, like with your thumbnail. Then gently do the others and slide the cover down and over.

I think these fans could do some serious injury if you happened to get a finger in the way accidentally. So be careful.

Find the mid point between the tabs and pull gently to get one tab off. Then work around to gently pull the remaining tabs and you 'll be good.

Best advice is don't remove the fan from the motor.

We remove the screen using tabs at least a few times a year as we run our vent fans throughout most trips. Also clean fan blade by removing screw a couple of times a years as well. Easy to do and no issues with tabs although I wouldn't overly force them.

I have done the same and never broke the tabs.

A little tip to help keep the blades cleaner,after you wipe them off apply some 303 on the blades, works great and they stay cleaner longer. :B
