If a trucker is passing me at a slow rate and holding up a mile of traffic I slow down so they can get past me and in front. Why don't they do that for each other?

That is just a nostalgic relic of the past. When a professional driver needs my help to operate safely it is time to get off the road. My brother is a trucker and there are several others in my circle of friends and acquaintances, and to a man they hate RV,ers with every fiber of their being. We are either slow and in the way,or driving on the ragged edge with barely adequate equipment. There are way to many wanna be truckers driving an RV. You are not a trucker and never will be,you do your thing and let them do theirs. I don't do it don't expect it.
One other thing, when you pull into an angled rest area slot,DO NOTmatch front bumpers with the semi next to you. Match back bumpers so they don't whip into a spot and find you 15 feet in.
My opinion is they can hate all they want, because I don't like a bunch of they either. They have no idea who I am and whether I am a professional driver in my RV or not. I have been treated badly by way to many semi drivers both locally and out on the road. You get respect by giving it. We all pay for the roads and their upkeep. And by the way I do have a CDL and drive a school bus. JMHO.

Often a trucker will signal ME when I can get over. I consider it polite.

If they hate me at least they are civil to me in person.

Some do.. Some do not... Some only do it for other COMMERCIAL drivers.

Likewise,,If I flash over a trucker..Some flash marker/tail lights, some do not.

Recommendation is to listen to the principle in the following story:

Man stopped in NYC's Central park on his way home to buy a newspaper.
The vendor was the surliest person his friend (Who was walking with him) had ever met.. I mean this man had a kind word for NOBODY... The principle greeted him with a Cherry "Good Morning" and the vendor replied "What's Good About IT?" and it went downhill from there on the vendor's side.. The principle remained polite and cheerful, with the vendor getting nastier as they went.

The transaction completed.. The principle and friend left.. The principle still in good humor.. His friend ask why he was so polite Even though the vendor was anything but.

The Principle replied: I refuse to let HIM control my actions.

Be polite,, Be helpful,, Be courtious, and if the other driver is not.. Well, that is HIS problem.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

I see them do it for me. Probably depends on if you've pissed him off a mile back.

Most do not.
The insurance companies frown on it and if one
of their adjusters see the company may see a
rate increase.
They cite liability issues if there is an accident.

We drove up I-77 yesterday from Columbia, SC to Ft Chiswell, VA. Of the half dozen or so semi's that passed us and were flashed back over, two sent a "Thanks" with a couple of 4-way flashes. Of the half dozen or so semi's we passed, three flashed us back over and got thanked in return. It does seem to be less prevalent now, particularly among younger truckers.

I think it's about 50/50 for me. In my case, I think it depends a lot on how fast I am passing the truck or if someone is on my rear wanting to pass us both.

Some do some don't. Most of them do where I live. Other areas, not sure of.
