Around the camp fire I make Boy Scout coffee (one old guy called it cowboy coffee) and actually like I better that drip, french press or even perk. I use my perk pot without the basket, fill with spring or well water, then add coffee grounds and boil until the desired darkness. I also add cinnamon and a pinch of salt. While the fire is burning and the coffee is boiling I put a stick of hickory or oak wood in the fire let it burn down some then stir the coffee with the burning stick, and pour the coffee through a strainer. The charcoal from the wood adds a distinctive taste but not the strong burn taste of Starbucks.
