Cool New Cat Scale App

FYI...CAT scale has a cool new app where you can register with your credit card, then when you pull on the scale and enter the scale #, it charges your card and emails you the weigh slip, so you don't have to go inside. The app is called "Weigh My Truck" and it's in the app stores.

You need to do some setup on the app for it to work correctly, mainly entering name/address, company, credit card #, etc. I just made up a company name. It also asks you to enter a truck number and trailer number, I just entered 101 for the truck and 202 for the trailer.

We stopped at the Love's near Elkhart IN and drove on the scale, then opened the app on my phone. The app uses GPS to find the scale, then asks you to confirm the location. Charge was $12.50, and if you approve the charge, it will bill the card on file and immediately display your weights in the app. Within a minute, I had an email with a .pdf of the weigh slip signed by the scale operator in my inbox.

Saves a lot of time vs. having to use the speaker to talk to the attendant, go inside to get your ticket, etc.

I wonder how it handles re-weighs.

It knows if you've been to that scale the past 24 hours then just bills your CC at the re-weigh price.
  • The app has been around for quite some time (at least two to three years that I've been using it).

It is very handy. You also get to see the weights on your phone instantly, followed up with the slip in the email.

  • This is from the CAT Scale app.

Please note: The CAT Scale Weigh My Truck App is only available for Standard weighing. If a Split-axle or Double weigh is required, please use the CAT Scale Intercom.
  • I have heard of this before, wish it was available when I was using Cat several times a week. (1 load, I had 7 re-weighs.) But now I weigh my camper once a year. I can walk in for that.
  • The scale works the same as a regular weigh, you get steer axle, drive axle, and trailer axle. You get exactly the same weigh slip, just emailed to you so you don't have to go inside and pay the cashier for a hard copy.
  • Nice, but can you do separate axle weights from the app? Especially if you're dragging a toad?
