CoolTech tow harness knocks out left tail light

Ok, wondering if anyone else has run into this. I had a 2007 Jeep Wrangler JK. I just bought a 2011 Wrangler JK and took the cooltech harness out of the old one and put it in the new one. When I hook it up to the left tail light in my Jeep it stops that tail light from working. What gives?

Thanks if you know.

Does your 2011 have a factory towing package? If it does, you have to make a secondary connection. Check the instructions. Our 2012 Rubi came with the factory towing package. As a part of the deal the dealer had to pull the Cooltech from the old Jeep and install on the '12. Took them three tries to make the left light work.

Freightguy,

I have a 2009 JKU and had the same problem. I fixed it by playing with the connections from the CoolTech wires coming from the front of the Jeep to the light connections. Somehow had them hooked up wrong and it was by-passing the left hand lights. Works now.

Hope this helps.

Check the ground carefully.

Bad ground is the most common problem with all items being towed.
