Corp lakes access page?

I see the ACOE is changing web pages. Anyone know where they moved this one to? ACOE camping link

It used to a clickable US map to get to Corp sites by state. It takes you to a temporary page with no new link. The links there drive my security settings bonkers.

The US government doesn't pay Verisign to approve the security certificates of government web sites. (The US government also tries to prevent Google and other search engines from indexing their pages. Which is why if you want to find information about a changes at a particular lake - you have to go to the project website and look at their news releases. You can't find those pages by a web search. Now with the Corps Lakes website no longer working - it will be harder to find things like campground closings, price changes, facilities changes, etc.)

The one which drives my web browser nuts is the one when I can check/ verify/ update deductions/ download 1040-R for my military retirement pay.

It was a budget deal. Saved a few dollars to no longer 'duplicate' Recreation.gov.

Of course the Corps Lakes web site was much more informative than Reserve America's site they run for the government.

It would give you information about projects/ lakes without reservations or even without camping. It would give you information about which campgrounds were leased out as state parks, commercial parks, city parks, etc.

Way more informative than recreation.gov - but it is now gone and apparently not coming back.

If you look at uscampgrounds.info, it shows practically all publicly owned campgrounds--COE, NPS, USFS, state, county, and city. Very useful.

This is definitely NOT the high quality of service we are used to for the COE website! Here's hoping they fix it soon. I have recently had trouble with the BLM sites, too. Perhaps this is some government security issue?

That's kind of a back door way but half the links are the one that doesn't work posted above.
As for recreation.gov you do need to know the facility name and how to spell it. But it's no good for the corp freebies. At least we have a fairly recent book.

There is a national clickable map for COE districts at http://www.usace.army.mil/Locations.aspx Some, such as the Sacramento District, have clickable links to each lake, including camping info if any. Some don't. I did not try them all.

The link for reservations sends you to the main page of Recreation.gov, where it seems like you have to know the name of the lake or facility in order to get any info.
