CR-V towing procedure ??

Hi all, just bought a 2009 cr-v awd and want to know the proper procedure, for towing. Coach mounted falcon tow bar, looking to get RM base plates but they look like a different set up that I had I my Wrangler ??
  • Read the owners manual, I could give you the procedure for my 2013, not sure if it applies to 2009. If you don't have a owners manual get it on line. Got my RM base plate from Amazon.com Dick
  • You are supposed to let it idle two minutes in N before shutting it off. Als change the trans fluid every 30K miles.

    I agree; read the manual.
  • We Tow an 07!

I start the Engine on the Car and drive forward close enough to connect the Demco Excalibar Moho mounted Tow Bar. I also attach the Coiled safety cables and coiled Electrical cord.

After ensuring that everything that should be attached is attached And with the engine still running I move the gear selector through the Forward Drive 2 -1-2-D to the neutral position! Never go to reverse or park!
Then I turn the Ignition Key to Off.....Flip the installed switch for Fuse #34 to the Off position, which turns off the Radio etc.
Climb out lock the doors and tow away . The manual says to start the engine and run throught the forward gears every eight hours, but I usually don't drive that long!

We use the Valet Key in the ignition and We have an aftermarket Remote Control that
Locks ,unlocks the Doors. It will even start the Engine from 100 Feet away which is handy !

These are the same instructions( Abreviated) that are found in the Honda Manual!
  • WOW! I think I would get the correct procedures from the manufacturer rather than an internet forum. Anyone can post anything and it may or may not be correct. If it is wrong YOU will be paying the money to fix.
