Custom RV Mattress Mattress Insider

Hello everyone! I'm looking for a custom replacement mattress for our fifth wheel as the one that's in there is at the end of it's life. It's a 60"x75" with two rounded corners at the foot end to make it easier to walk around the mattress. Most of everything I've been finding online is a cheap made in China type product (or they don't disclose where it's made), off gases chemical smells, or they won't disclose any specifications on their product (i.e. the density of their foams...an important consideration for the durability of the mattress).

My biggest thing is I'm looking for a custom shop. I don't want to buy a 60x75 or a 60x80 and then be doing surgery to the new bed (i.e. cut it down with a knife, etc). I also don't want to buy a topper for the existing mattress as it's falling apart.

I came across MattressInsider.com on the internet and they seem like they'd be a good fit (they do custom, eco friendly, ship quick, etc), but I wanted to see if anybody on here has experience with them or any of their mattresses before we take the plunge. We're based in Colorado like they are but they don't have a showroom out here where we can try the beds.

Has anybody bought from them? If so, which model did you buy and why? How long have you had it? How was Mattress Insider's service? They seem to be good before the sale (responsive to my endless questions, etc) but how are they after the sale? If you didn't like the mattress and you had to donate it (they have a donation policy), was it easy to do or was it a hassle? I wouldn't have that policy because I need a custom mattress, but I'm curious how easy they are to work with if things go wrong.

Thanks! I'm going to try posting this on a few other forums as well as we need to get an order placed pretty quickly. Are there any other forums you'd suggest that I post this on?

Thanks everyone!
Sarah

2oldman & darsben thanks for the welcoming party guys! I can see how you might think that as I've never used this forum before. This is a big purchase and I'd like to get feedback from other people who have used this company and what better place to ask....THAN A FORUM

So how about this...instead of passing judgement on me, why don't you help me out with some suggestions instead? What are some OTHER places I should consider who can make a custom mattress for us?

With all the puffery about how good they seem to be your post falls outside of what a lot of us consider normal.

What we expect to see is something like.
HI this is my first post.I have been looking at purchasing Kumquats from the Kumquat factory has anybody had experience dealing with them on a custom made Kumquat.

Your post falls outside that norm and was therefore suspicious. If you are not guerrilla marketing I apologize.

Oops!!! The one we just bought is the 8" Luxury Cool-MAXยฎ Gel Foam RV Mattress II. (We had also looked at an Escape from someone else, but this company & product had better explanations & reviews in our opinion.) Good luck with your choice.

I have a short queen in my "C". The sales guy asked me to measure from the head of the bed platform to the hinge for the storage area underneath. They built a short queen with a wooden frame on the bottom, hinged exactly where it needed to be.

Thanks Jim. I believe we looked into them and they couldn't ship to Colorado. Or they could but the freight was pretty crazy.

We bought one of theirs recently sight unseen. I think it was the 8" Escape because we didn't have a lot of clearance for where it fit under the sink edge when the slide is in. My hubby weighs around 250 and we are both comfortable. It is available in custome sizes, but we bought a 72 x 80. It was delivered as promised and we were kept updated via email on its ship date. I am sensitive to odors & allergic to latex. We unwrapped it and slept on it the next day with no issues. We were VERY pleased with their customer service and would recommend them highly. (We researched several other mail-order and custom shops before deciding on them.) Their prices were VERY reasonable compared to other similar businesses.

Awesome! Good to hear that it expands quickly. We have a trip coming up and I was afraid it would take a few days. I didn't see a model called the Escape on their website but I'll call and ask them about it on Monday.

Recently we bought a new matress for the house. While we were at the store we asked about an RV sized matress...we had one custom made for $400 and it is great. Jameson brand. Go see your local bedding store, what you lay on in the store will what you get only custom sized.
