Dark Paneling

Whats with all the dark paneling in the rv's today. I think it is easier to cover mistakes when the paneling is real dark. We like the light oak colors to make it light and cherrie inside. Some interiors make you feel like you are in a cave or a submarine...
  • Look at the trim, fabric and color options. Chances are there is a lighter color scheme available, and the reason you are seeing the darker schemes is because that's what buyers today are buying, so that's what the dealers are ordering. Usually even entry-price model lines have decor options that a buyer can order.

Don't get it also, dark colors while giving a warmer feeling, also make a space feel smaller.

Lighter colors make the feeling larger and colder.

It takes a bit to get a balance between the two.
  • I love darker interiors. It is more cool, calm and quieting to me vs. lighter.
  • I like the look of the darker woods, but chose a lighter tone for our new MH. Darker woods are ok if you have plenty of light from windows or other sources.
  • Current style, wait a while and it will change and dark interiors will go out of style, cyclical.

My wife would agree with you 100%. She hates the darker paneling which is why when we bought our MH we had to shop around to find one with the lighter interior. But, everyone has different tastes.
  • Design changes to reflect the current trend. Look at all the dark colors you see in houses now. Same ugly dark colors in kitchens and baths. I agree it makes the new RV interiors look horrible. I much prefer the light colors in my 11 year old fiver.
