You send this information every time you send someone a check. Your check has the bank's routing number and your acct. number on it.

Yep, your check info is out there for anyone that happens to be in the chain from repairman, to his bookkeeper, maybe her kids, to their bank, then the bank routing system, back to your bank. By the time it gets back lots of people have your bank account information.
