Determining Market Value of RV? Website?

Nada is the "go to". If you ask a bank, they'll look at Nada, although they may have access to a more up to date version. Not sure on that, just something I heard on the Internet. :/

Also look at pplmotorhomes.com They are a big consignment dealer and they list the final sale price of all of their sales.

Also, look at RVtrader.com ... you get retail sales "asking" prices there, but you can get a general idea what folks are asking, then decide on a bargain value from there and decide what it's worth to you - either buying or selling.

I use rvtrader.com, Craigslist, and racingjunk.com

I look for the year make and model or something similar and compare the prices listed. This gives a rough idea of true market value and then compare it to the NADA estimate.

I then take the prices from the websites and NADA and blend them to come up with the price I would be willing to pay or sell my RV for. If buying I offer way low... if selling I price higher than the blended price.

Craigslist is great because you can watch the ad over a period of time to see if the ad is removed (sold the RV,call to confirm) or the price reduces because they haven't sold it (priced too high).

Good idea on the bank Dick. I hadn't thought about that one.

This unit I am looking at was for sale last fall for the same price and he never sold it. Now it's a year older.

I'm not in a big hurry and finances are a consideration. I will be very careful what I do.
I also have to consider parking a 35 foot trailer in sardine style campgrounds too. This thing wouldn't have fit in a couple places I stayed on my recent 17 day holiday trip.

NADA (which is owned by the member dealers) works by collecting, collating, and sorting as much data as possible. That data comes from the manufacturers (MSRP) and the dealers (supposedly) actual invoices. This does not include data from private sales.

This works well with automobiles where they have millions of data points. This does not work so well with RV's that have far fewer total sales. Then you add the complication that there are so many more variants in RVs than in automobiles. So it will be very difficult for NADA (or anyone else) to accumulate enough data on a specific model/year to be very accurate. Also remember that NADA's primary purpose is to price cars and trucks.

Best bet is to do your own research on the web, including pricing similar models from other manufacturers.

Any dealer will depreciate a new trailer 20% after the first year, 10% for each year thereafter until the 5th year, after that it's wholesale value has fallen enough that it's retail value really comes down to how much anyone may be willing to pay for it. Now that 2016 models are on dealers' lots this 2010 model you're considering and which was quite possibly built in 2009 would be an example.

When I provided the NADA link earlier in this thread, I looked up the value of my 31K. I bought this MH new in Mar 2013, and NADA says this MH,that I've had for over two years, has an average retail value $3,000 dollars more than I paid for it.

When selling, I found the NADA values to be cosiderazbly higher thzt the price it took to get an interested buyer.

I spend some time searching nation wide for the same camper and looking at the for sale prices.

Bob, perhaps a local bank could help you somewhat determine the value as they would want to know that before making a loan. I hope it works out for you folks as you have had more than your fair share of challenges the past few years.

NADA was helpful for me. Not sure about the country location though.
There is a box to check for out of the US. I clicked it but it didn't indicate anything further to narrow the search to Canada.
