Did I wait too long to winterize?

After the fiasco of blowing my engine Aug 9th and getting everything towed back home, the TT went directly to storage, full of water and ready to rock and roll.

Truck is still down, engine in pieces, looks like no more camping this year.
Temperatures here have been dipping below freezing at night, figured I better get after winterizing.

So I'm wondering, did I wait too long?

Haha!
Managed to get the water out and pink in today. Sighhhhh......

No low mileage salvage yard motors?

Pair of heads found about 500 miles north of me. They arrived Monday, engine going back together soon.
Cheaper than a whole engine, although I found an LBZ for 4 grand after committing to the heads.

It was already done when I posted this :) note the last line of my post.

After opening the low point drain, I found the resulting pyramid amusing. It was a lot taller but it fell over just before taking the picture.

All is well, got it just in time.

I would think that since you have water flowing FROM the fresh water tank out the low point drain, than at least that part is fine. And likely inside pipes are fine as well.

    X2

Yea you still got flowing water, just drain tanks and lines now before it gets colder, one nice thing about living in the desert is no frozen water..

  • Ouch! So sorry for your troubles. It's possible you waited too long, but maybe you'll get lucky. Winterize now - and be on the lookout for leaks!
  • You may have! Get to it, or you'll find nasty surprises in the spring when you put water to it again.
