I could post a picture of my receiver with a trailer setting on the ball and the chains lying on the ground. Doesn't mean I'd ever hit the road that way. - TyroneandGladysExplorerWas taught years ago to always hook up the safety chains so that they would break away because the if the trailer came unhitched and the safety chains held it would probably cause you to loose control and wreck. Note I no longer follow that advice.

Even if it was hooked up correctly, I'm surprised at the size of that shackle. That shackle is probably rated at no more than 400lbs and also probably bought at HarborFreight.
