Does This RV Layout Exist?

Went to look at RVs this week.

We are currently in an Arctic Fox truck camper and it's feeling a little small for 2 people and a pet full time.

Looking B+ and C class RVs, we noticed there is almost always a bed above the cab/driver's seats. A cab over bed.

We want a bigger RV but we want it to be small outside for ease of use.

All the class B+ and C RVs have a "bedroom" area way in the back AND the cab over bed. This is an enormous waste of space in my eyes and adds a lot of feet to the length of the rig without added benefit.

Is there a layout in a class B+ or class C that is more efficient like a truck camper layout?

A cab over bed only and the rest of it a living, dining, kitchen and bathroom?

Seems to me this would keep the RV small outside and feeling huge inside.

Anyone aware of a layout like this?

Have you considered keeping your pickup and buying a Travel Trailer or 5th wheel ? This would allow you to find different floor plans.

Definitely. That would be perfect except it makes it near impossible to park anywhere.

We don't use campgrounds. We travel all over and park in urban and suburban areas as well as rural if possible. It's actually harder to park in rural.

In any case, the truck plus trailer doesn't fit into one or even 2 parking spots. Impossible to use on a daily basis.

I see what you are saying. Actually, my half ton pickup and 20 foot TT fits into 2 spots fairly nicely, a 16 or 18 would be better yet. I once even owned a 14 foot TT. Was cramped though.

I understand that for you though this is not a option.

Saw this on Craigslist this morning and thought of you. ๐Ÿ™‚

So 15 years ago they made this floor plan. If I had to guess why they stopped, I'd think that maybe as trucks got stronger and truck campers got bigger, the market for small Class C's got smaller. But I dunno.

on edit, sorry I didn't see there was a page three before I posted, someone already mentioned this one.

Literally perfect. Just can't get into the retro look of Lazy Daze unfortunately.

My '88 Jamboree 26S had rear bath, kithchen, dinette, couch, 2 swivel chairs, and overhead bunk. It was known as the "party" layout, and the floorplan was used for at least several years after that. Lazy Daze still makes similar layouts, in both 24' and 27' models. For what it's worth, I (and many others) consider the Lazy Daze look to be "classic', not "dated". And their quality is unquestioned, as is their resale value.

15 years ago I had a 23 Jamboree. No down bed, a sofa and a booth. Older knees say we need a down bed.

It's a class C which is what you are looking for.

That's it! It does exist.

Thanks for showing me that. Now if only they could make those Lazy Daze look like they are from the 21st century. Lol

Lazy Daze may look a little bit "dated" ... but their quality is also back in time like how many RVs used to be built in the "good old days". I'll take a classical Lazy Daze any day over some of the glitz and glimmer looks - with no real guts - that you find in some of the junk RV models these days. :S

There are some Class B's (and C's, I think) with a Murphy bed. That might provide more room when the bed isn't folded down, as well as an easier time getting in & out of the bed when in use, compared to a cabover bed.
