Dometic awning

My electric awning used to roll up all the way on both sides but over the past year it rolls up to the roof but the end with the motor does not take the awning all the way to the roof line. It is about 4-6" out. I have no idea what the issue is.....
  • Check the adjustment knobs on the arm for tilt. One may have moved a bit!

You might check to see if the awning is skewed on the roller. Sometimes the manufacturer forgets to put locks on the track with the awning and over time, the awning skews.

It is an easy matter to straighten out the awning and install the locks.

I got up to the awning rail and could not figure out how to slide the awning fabric towards the front ov the RV without tearing it. Is there some secret way to do it? I do not see any screws locking the fabric in place....

  • It takes very little resistance to stop the awning from moving. You need to look for a point of binding, while someone operates the switch. It could be the above mentioned, or just a slight arm misalignment. Good time to clean up the connections to motor, while looking for issue source.
