A. As a truck driver, it is discouraging when I hear someone make a comment about "those dumb@$$ truck drivers". First off, I bees calledge ejukated--second, most drivers are just trying to make a living. RVers seem to have a bit of a love/hate relationship with their bigger brothers :B

B. As a person who enjoys RVing, I always get a chuckle when towing my TT and I hear some recent truck school grad on the C.B. commenting how I should have a special license---and probably can't even back the trailer up. I chuckle because I never went to any fancy 6 week school---I learned the old way, with the guy who owned the truck next to me, threatening to beat me in the head if I wrecked his truck. I probably have more miles backing up, then that smart@$$ has going forward (he doesn't know about "A").

HOWEVER... Stupid is STUPID. Please note the parking spaces to the left & the spots to the right. The angle wasn't the best, but this RV is squarely parked in the travel lane between the parking spaces.

Please don't be this person...

Or parking in the car area at a rest stop...

Those are almost always caused by the truck area being full at night. And, the car area essentially empty, with lots of space. When one runs out of hours, as required by LAW, the truck driver MUST stop, or face a $1000 fine for being over hours.

KampingKris there is no logic. The mentality, well there is none. Some folks advance with civilization, others just mutate but remain mostly innate. You have not seen the end of them you will run into these Neanderthals for as long as you are on the highway.

My experience surrounded a gas pump and a very rude family. It was a regular station and the diesel was at only one pump. The family pumped gas and sat... and went in the store... and sat... and went to the bathroom and sat... All while I was idling the diesel right behind them patiently waiting. I had the ATV trailer attached and was at such an angle that backing up was an issue and besides, it was obviously the only diesel pump..
I'm the DW and that family had some rather beefy grumpy men among them so I decided I would just wait rather than push the issue. But luckily after 10 minutes and me getting ready for battle, the attendant got involved and told them to MOVE. I do not understand the mentality.

I too was a truck driver for 13 years before going to the other side- Police officer- and an RVer so what gets me is when you pull into a Cracker Barrel and all the spaces reserved for trucks, buses and RV's are parked full of cars. Kinda makes you think about pulling in behind them set the brakes and and go in and enjoy dinner. :B

That very thing happened to me just the other day. The initial individual must have parked just over the line, that forced the next 4 cars to do the same thing. Then I came along,I was making a quick in and out visit, so I parked accordingly, only my line was near a hand-capped site. Man when I came out of the store all the other cars had left, and there I sat about one tire width over the handicapped line. Some guy came up to me and just really exploded, he did not look handicapped in any way, but he came with in a cats whisker of getting his nose rearranged. I finally just backed out and left him venting his spline.
The worst part was it was an extra wide handicapped spot and he had plenty of room. Some days your are the dog and some days you are the hydrant.

If you were to park in-between 2 parked vehicles in a busy parking lot and those 2 vehicles were both straddling the stripes you would look like a fool later when everybody left and you were all by yourself with on-lookers thinking you were a jerk for parking that way. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I know that guy! He's the same guy who pulls up 4 feet away from us at a casino or walmart or where ever when there are a hundred places to park. Then he runs his generator all night or at least a couple hours after quiet hours. His older brother has a DP who I spotted doing about 45 mph passing us on the Mackinaw bridge while the 25 mph fog warning lights were flashing. Great guys ๐Ÿ™‚

At least they didn't leave the RV parked at the diesel pumps while they ate in the restaurant, before they did a little shopping.

You can't fix rude/stupid.

Sure you can,,there is easy way and hard way..

I always try the easy polite way first..:)

I give every courtesy and indulgence to truckers.

I am retired and have all the time in the world. They are working and time is money.
