Our DVD player has been acting up and I think it is time to replace it. Our Jayco DVD player is mutlifunctional(DVD/Radio/Surround sound) and don't know what to replace it with. Any recommendations for replacement or do I have to call Jayco? The trailer is in storage and I don't know what brand it is.

Ours quit also several years ago. It mounts in a fairly small opening in a cabinet below the TV. So I wrote down the cabinet opening measurements, went to Best Buy, and looked at what they had to fit that opening. They had Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, and another or two. Bought a Panasonic home theater system (blu-ray DVD surround sound system complete with new speakers) as it most closely matched the old one in size. Bought blu-ray as we already had a number of blu-ray movies at home. Did not cost much more than a standard DVD system. Sounds much better than the old one.
You need to look at the home theater systems if you want to drive your surround sound speakers from it. The new system will come with new speakers also. I used the new speakers with the existing wiring.

My built-in DVD unit uses the fold down door method meaning the DVD were being used in a vertical position. In my case this started giving me problems in just a few months of use. My neighbor RV guy doesn't have any problems with his DVD player being used in the vertical position - go figure...

I replaced the DVD with a cheap $30 WALMART stand alone unit and plugged into the system using the provided three RCA type video/sound plugs. Every thing worked out just fine with the built-in amplifier surround sound etc... The stand alone cheap DVD player is still working today since my late 2008 purchase of the 5th wheel trailer.

depending on how your current one is mounted, you may or may not have many options .... the one in our camper was a stand alone unit that set on a large shelf in a cabinet below the TV .... many today are mounted in an opening specially sized for whatever OEM unit was used .... you will find that it is difficult (OK, almost impossible) to find a replacement that doesn't come as part of a kit which includes speakers .... contacting Jayco or having your dealer do so for a recommendation isn't a bad idea
