Enclosed trailers

It probably goes without saying, but make sure you can get out of your Rav4 after putting it in the trailer, preferably without undue contortion. Many make it hard to do things like opening the driver's door. A carefully placed side door on the trailer, for instance, may be a tremendous help.

When buying an enclosed cargo trailer don't be fooled by the low price come on's.

We tow our 2011 RAV4 4-down with a few extra items in the cargo area. The parks we favor don't always have a lot of room for an extra trailer in addition to the motorhome and car.

Pace, Haulmark, and Wells Cargo would be on my short list. I have a small enclosed trailer that is older but is leak-free and is holding up well. A few years ago, I painted the interior and installed a new floor. I really like the bamboo plank floor. Stuff slides on it easily and it's durable.

I have a Carson 8 X 20 and for the price it does well. Strongly recommend an extended tongue for clearance and makes backing that much easier. Inside height is also something to consider.

I really like the Feather Light trailers but they are out of my budget for now.

A local company that specializes in trailer repairs and built my 5 x 8 open utility trailer (their design) with the custom extending trailer tongue I designed for it recommended Pace and Haulmark for enclosed trailers when I asked them for recommendations.

I did lots of searching when I bought and converted a cargo trailer to a small toyhauler with full living quarters.

My neighbor races go karts for a living so he also has a big gooseneck. both of us after searching felt that Pace trailers best fit our needs in terms of high quality and features.

15 years later, both of us agree, that the Pace trailers have done what we expected. He put over 100K miles on his first bumper pull then updated to a bigger gooseneck that probably has 30K miles on it now.

Wells cargo was also near the top of our lists, but both of us felt the Pace trailers were finished better.

In my working life our company converted enclosed trailers for the electrical utility companies. We used Wells Cargo trailer exclusively. Sold over 200 of them and only ever had one issue. That was a special hitch situation.

They are a very solid trailer and available in many configurations. Not the cheapest but one of the best IMHO.

I have a Victory 8.5 x20 enclosed car haulerthat has served us well.

If I had a powerful Diesel pusher I would tow a two axle enclosed for my TOAD and other stuff. It would be my BUG-OUT trailer with extra supplies. For regular camping I would prefer 4 Down. No Dolly and No trailer is the easiest.
We full timed from 1986 to 2005. Most of the time it was 4 down.
