I'm posting this for a friend who does not have an account with this site...

I just thought I would share my story with the fine people of this forum.

Very interesting post. Is it written "for a friend" or is it your story?

Check your terms and conditions. If (deleted by Admin) sold you a legitimate service contract, there should be the name of the insurer and a way to contact the insurer or the Administrator directly for a refund. (deleted by Admin) is not an administrator or insurer, only the sales channel. Hopefully, they used a legitimate insurer and hopefully they paid the premium on your plan. If so, you should be able to go directly to the administrator or insurer for a refund. If you would like to fax or scan me a copy of your contract, I would be happy to help. Unfortunately these on-line scammers give the service contract industry a bad name when there are legitimate services out there. It pays to do your homework up front- verify that you are dealing with an insurance backed product, and know who is standing behind your warranty.

This is a PERFECT example of how important due diligence is in the selection of an EW contract and provider. Such a policy is an expensive decision that should not be made only on price or advice of an RV dealer. It is critical to read and understand the fine print and research reviews of the provider carefully. $5k out the window is nothing to sneeze at.

You said (deleted by Admin) had not paid the repair bill. Did you pay the repair bill? If you had a claim on the extended warranty and they had the repairs done, then i'm not sure if you could get a pro rated refund. I would think you could get it as long as you didn't use the service. Maybe I'm wrong, but I would assume that you couldn't make a claim and then ask for your money back after wards.

Bought only one of these warranties and fortunately I needed it and they paid but that was way back in the 80's. Haven't bought one since simply because of the many complaints I've heard over the years.

IMHO....don't threaten unless you plan on following through. Don't complain on here...do what you said you were going to do. These types of companies need to be taken out by whatever legal means available. Small claims action maybe...go after your money. If more do so, they will not be in business long...I've had two different companies, have used them for repairs and have come away satisfied..thanks for the heads up on this one.....just sayin...Dennis

Yes, you misread. He threatened to call those entities if he did not receive a return call PDQ as he had been getting the run around up til then.

third party RV extended warranties are often not worth the paper they're printed on.
often, in the fine print, you'll find that a lot of common RV repair issues aren't covered. like delam or roof damage for leaks.

that's why most here, will advise AGAINST buying a third party extended warranty, when asked.

Sad to hear of you dilemma. Hope you can resolve it to your satisfaction.

If you bought this warranty through a dealer he kept more than half of your $5275.00. Extended warranties are extremely high profit for a retail dealer.

These warranties cost the dealer so little that they will throw them in for free to seal a deal.

If the warranty was purchased thru a dealer it might help to complain to them as they get a share of every plan sold.
And your friend has joined many, like me, who have learned a hard lesson about bad warranty companies.

Like all "insurance" companies, extended warranty firms love the money coming in and scoff at sending it out. I know some people have benefited from extended warranties, but I suspect that on average the extended warranty firm wins. Else they would not exist.

I bought my coach 8 years ago when it was just a year old and have never wished I had an extended warranty. Sorry for your bad experience.

A very expensive lesson. Thanks for sharing. These kind of scammers need to be put out of business.
