Finally Made It! Retirement Day

After a long career in the missile building business, today is retirement day! For the last 30 years, I've worked as a Test Engineer and Operations Manager. And, I still have all my fingers.

Can't wait to hit the open road with the TV and FW with no time constraints. One thing I'm really looking forward to is not having to deal with the traffic at the end of a holiday weekend. I can just stay in camp and watch everyone else pack up and jam the roads.

We have some long trips planned in 2014. First will be Death Valley and then up the west coast. Then, we're going to Yellowstone, across to Niagra Falls. From there, across to Maine, down to Florida and then back to Arizona.

In 2015, the DW and I are planning on spending the summer terrorizing fish in Alaska.

    Congrats! Looking forward to it myself. 438 days, but who's counting? All I need now is a co-pilot and/or a dog. Well, gotta ponder that one a bit more!

    Congrats! Enjoy this this new phase of your life. DH is supposed to retire in 36 months (not like we are counting or anything). Hoping to retire when he does so we can see this great country.

    Congratulations on the next chapter in your life. I've been retired for almost 7 years and my wife finally will retire in 7 weeks, I can't hardly wait to hit the road too..

    77 more days till I join this group on the road. Mississippi Gulf Coast in April and May and then it's off to Key West for about a month for some do nothing days in the sun. Already sold the house and bought the 5th Wheel now there is nothing to hold me back but a tank of fuel. SEE YA ON THE ROAD!

    Congratulations on your retirement!!! We can tell you tat it is fantastic. We did a three month trip out west in 2012 and will be going back to California, Oregon and Washington this year. Last year we did New England. Love it!!! Be sure that you buy your Senior Pass that gets you into the National Parks free as well as 1/2 price camping at Gov. campgrounds.

    My wife and I have been retired now for just over 8 months. To begin retirement, I got the bass boat of my dreams, a Triton TR186. Had a great summer with it. Now the wife and I have decided that we want to get a TT and snowbird in Arizona next winter. Never been out of Vermont in the winter so this will be an experience. Busy now learning "how to be an rv'er". And looking for a Trailer. This site is awesome. Good luck TucsonJim, maybe we'll bump in to you on down the road.

    I have been retired for about 2 yrs now. I tell those soon to retire to make sure they complete whatever they want to do before retirement because they won't have time after the retire.. You will be having too much fun! Take it slow and easy...Hope you have a house that can take care of itself. My hot tub flooded this summer, with all the rain here in Destin, Fl. We were traveling for 31 days, 7600 miles Calgary Stampede, Frontier Days Wyoming, Whitewater Snake River, Jackson Hole.
    Holy cow,, we spent $ like drunken sailors... that part we have not learned yet. How to live on my retirement income... Ha!Ha! Hope you enjoy life as we sure have.
