First Long Trip

Howdy all, finally retiring in Dec, and the wife & I are planning our first long trip. We have a 36' gas Mountain Aire, pulling a Wrangler. We live in Vacaville,CA. We plan to head out first part of Feb for New Orleans, taking our time, about three-four months. Then leave the rig & toad there in long term storage, fly home, then pick up where we left off in about eight-12 months. Anyone done anything similar, or see any potential problems with this? Thanks...

Like others have said, I might take it someplace with a more forgiving environment and leave it there. A nice dry place like northern Texas... Also, leaving equipment sitting unprotected for 8-12 months could lead to mechanical issues. I might suggest you fly back for a couple or 6 months, then fly back out and finish your trip.

Either way, ENJOY!!!

It's possible to do but I wouldn't leave it around New Orleans for a year for flooding, hurricane, etc. All those states have weather issues. Why not just continue your trip for that year?

I have done it in Seattle but only for 3-4 months - in that climate 8-12 months is a very long time -

I would take it back north to say Wichita Falls Tx

Thought we'd use a long term storage lot, like we do at home, unless there are other options I had not considered...

I had thought about this too, although the other direction. What are you going to use for a long term storage lot?
