Florida Toll Roads

So last year I went to Florida and towed my travel trailer behind me. I went through many toll booths that said toll by mail or something like that. I have never gotten a bill and the FL website site says you will get a bill in the mail. I don't mind paying what I owe, but I am sure not going to pay a years worth of overinflated admin fees and other nonsense fees. Do I keep waiting for a bill like the website says?

Bad advice.
The OP had better call and speak to someone directly about the matter. Just because you didn't receive a bill doesn't mean they didn't send one. They WILL suspend your license if you don't pay. I've seen this happen before. Being from FL, we have a SunPass (or ePass). Even then, the transmitter will sometimes not read correctly and they'll send you a bill. Normally, you just pay the fee or give them your SunPass account number (its a highly screwed up system that they can't even cross check their own database before sending you a bill instead of just charging your account). They may not have your address correct, or the bill might have fallen in between the seats of the mail truck, but you can count on the fact that they do have your license plate number and will check that against DOT records.

But, they'll usually let you slide if its only once or twice. If I were you, I'd pick up the phone and call immediately.

While it probably wouldn't hurt to call, I doubt FLORIDA will suspend his NORTH CAROLINA license. Maybe they will but not sure what that means.

Listen to majorgator, if you don't want to end up spending a day in jail. Florida WILL suspend your right to operate in the state for many reason and this is one of them, along with failure to pay a parking ticket, regardless of where your from. DWLSR is NOT a citable offense, it is a trip to the booking room at the county jail.

We had a saying about tourist and their I'm immune form Florida laws attitude, when I was a LEO in the state ...... Come to Florida on vacation, leave on probation and return on violation.....

Safest bet is to give them a call. They should be able to look up to see if you owe them something. I'd imagine if you went through last year, they should have sent a bill by now if they got you.

Not to say that this doesn't happen...but of all my years driving on FL toll roads pulling trailers of all shapes and sizes, it has never missed my trailer tag. Maybe I'm just unlucky.

Just stop at a CVS or Publix when you return to Florida, buy a portable transponder for $20.00, or a one-vehicle-only stcker for a few dollars. Sign up with an account online and load it with $20 or more to cover tolls. The account never expires and the $20 transponder portable from vehicle to vehicle. It's no big deal. Why worry about the past?
