I get aggravated when I have to visit those anyway, they seem to never have a cashier other than the one or two taking the truckers fuel purchase, to wait on the other shopper or auto fuel purchase.

I've been very disappointed in Flying J since Pilot took them over after their bankruptcy. While I am sad that there will be a few folks out of work in south Indianapolis, I can't say I shed tears for the company as a whole. Some of the company high mucky-mucks are being prosecuted for cheating truckers and RVers out of earned rebates. I also miss the old Flying J restaurants, their breakfasts were spectacular and reasonably priced. Not the same with a Denny's.

Oh my, no RV'ers were cheated out of anything in the high volume fuel users rebate debacle, only participating trucking companies. The former PFJ executives being prosecuted were quickly removed from the company in a house cleaning that started as soon as the top executives became aware of the issue and those involved. Court records have shown pretty conclusively that there was a concerted effort to hide the illegal activity from top management including the CFO.

Correct about only the high volume trucking companies losing.

But, also correct about not as good as before. When the owners of FJ were killed in the airplane crash, it destroyed FJ. Since Pilot took over, the prices went up. Restaurants went away, etc. Not as good as it was before.

The article said that Pilot owns all 3 truck stops at that intersection.

Hmmm, Perhaps that one wasn't making him enough money and......oops a grease fire that just happens to take the entire building out.

I drove a tour bus, tanker, and now an r.v.

the sad thing is the daughter took over ...after her dad was killed in a plane crash...everyone is not born with a business sense....

turning your successful business over to your family members is not always a good idea.

Crystal Call Maggelet seems to be doing quite well running FJ Management in Ogden, Utah, the renamed Flying J after the travel center division was merged with Pilot. FJM operates convenience stores, oil and refining, banking, and insurance businesses, and their Chapter 11 reorganization plan included paying all lenders and creditors in full in cash. The family members and other owners of FJM received cash and equity in both FJM and Pilot. The reorganization reportedly came about due to rapidly falling oil prices and tighter credit in the early to mid 2000's.

Back on topic, I wonder how long it will take to rebuild the Indy site and if they will choose to do so...

I can say as a personal witness to the way Pilot and Flying J treated their customers over the years.....If I could possibly get to a Flying J I would...now...you can tell there is very little difference between the two..

I miss the old Flying J....

Wow from the look of those huge red flames that looks like a lot more than just a grease fire in the kitchen! Wonder if the propane fill tank went up too.
I doubt it, the propane fill station is a good distance from the building, slightly closer to the street than the car gas pumps.

Given the time frame I doubt the propane tanks in the kitchen went up, they may have vented, but i doubt they went "boom" the fire did not burn long enough.

That said there are multiple fuel sources in a building like that and though not many go BOOM, they do make a nice big fire.. One that can be seen for miles.

Story of a 9-1-1 call I got from a restaurant manager (The Flaming Embers, 8 Mile, Detroit), Fire was already there but as he got closer and closer he said "it looks like it's close to where I work" ... It was.. trust me, It was, very close to where he used to work. Like this one, nobody injured.

Fortunately not, I don't see how the firefighters kept it from exploding. Great job, firefighters! Not not to mention the courage to fight the fire with so many chances for explosion.
