Forester behind a motorhome - signal issues...

If you are towing, or know someone towing a Subaru Forester behind a motorhome, please help. Hoping for assistance.

My '16 Subaru is hooked up. Blue Ox Avanti Tow Bar, Blue Ox wiring with a solenoid as part of the wiring to the car. Total hook-up all Blue Ox. Everything works great from coach to Forester except one issue.

Connections to the Patriot brake box, four-way flashers, brake lights, left turn signal, running light all work great from the coach to the forester as it should for a TOAD.

But when I use the right turn signal, the "third brake light" flashes along with the right turn signal. When I use the brakes, the "third brake light" works with the other brake lights as required.

Any help...???

Whoever hooked up the lights on the Forester hooked the right turn signal to the wrong wire. I have a Forester that I tow, and the lights work correctly.

Get the right turn signal wired properly.

If the Forester has the same bulb for turn and brake that third light has to be wired back to the brake switch. Otherwise it will activate when the signal is used. If they are separate bulbs for turn and brake then third light works only on the brake circuit. Wiring may need to be checked out.
If the motorhome and the toad have a different taillight setup there are adapters for that.

Our 09 Forester is getting prepped as a toad, but we opted to put separate LEDs in the taillights rather than tap into the wiring... I'm thinking it's a ground issue - possibly tied into the wrong wire... On a positive note, at least it blinks! Same thing happen when brakes applied AND right signal on? ST
