Fresh Water Hose

I am wanting advice for a fresh ware hose that is easy to coil up to store. The one I have now I just bought at Wally Mart and not only is it impossible to coil up neatly, the water coming out has a bad odor and of course taste bad. Yes, it is for potable water. I have also tried a white hose (for potable water) similar to the green Pocket Hose that has been out for a couple years and not to be used for potable water. Although it was easy to store, the water taste bad. Any ideas out there?

I've had a number of hoses over the years. Best ones I've found were purchase on AMAZON. Check it out.

I prefer Gilmour potable water hoses. You can get this hose in either 5/8 diam or 1/2.

I find the white Camco hose very hard to coil up or uncoil when cold, rigid as copper tubing, in the summer no problem. ๐Ÿ˜ž

I use the typical white hose and inline filter others have mentioned, seems fine to me. Maybe you are just overly sensitive to whatever those hoses are made from or the filtering elements(charcoal??)..can I suggest bottled water for drinking.

As for storing the hose...some of you responding have fancy arrangements. I simply cut down a five gallon bucket so that it easily goes in the front pass-thru storage compartment. The hose is coiled into this 1/2 bucket, and stays put.

handye9, i have tried those hoses twice, and even after leaving them run water through for several minutes, they still had a bad taste. I am using a in line filter. For others, I tasted the water out of the CG spigot, no filter, and it tasted ok. Tasted it through the hose and after and before the filter and the taste was bad. So, the bad taste is isolated to the hose.

This doesn't make sense. The good quality white water hoses are tasteless. On occasion, if the hose is sitting in the sun for several hours, you may get a few seconds of hot/plastic tasting water. We've been RVing for 40 years, with many types of hoses and have never had this issue.

Walmart sells Camco hoses and other products. I don't find Camco to be crap!

In regards to something easy to store, I bought a hose reel, the manually retractable type, like you see at a gas station and mounted it in a dead area of the coach and ran pvc to the water bay to connect it.

Part of the difficulty in coiling may be due to cold weather. Many types of hoses get far less pliable in cold weather, some seemingly to the point of being closer to rigid pipes than flexible hoses.

Got one off Amazon last year. Coils up like the old phone cords used to. It wiil stretch out and still keep its shape. Comes in a wide range of colors, steel connectors, well made.

Water Rite is the brand.

I carry one 10' white hose that I don't recall where I bought, and two 25' white hoses, one Camco from Walmart, and the other an unknown brand from Big Lots. None of them add any taste to the water, and all are fairly easy to coil and connect the ends together for storage without kinking. I've rarely needed all three, but it has happened. As said, the 10' is enough a lot of the time. All three were sanitized with a bleach solution before first using them.

I like the Handy-Hose also. But I don't think it is a good hose to leave sitting out hooked up.

I have a couple of these.

Found mine at a local Ace Hardware. I've also seen them at Walmart and some RV dealers.

Have you tried putting an inline filter in? We have been parked at the same place for several months and I have 50ft Camco white hose from CW. Have never had problems with the taste or smell of the water.
