Fridge Off While Gassing up

I am afraid to drive my vehicle into a fueling station now...all those explosions happening in the engine. I think I will turn it off at the off ramp and push it to the fuel pumps, should no longer be a problem.

Actually.....if you look REAL CLOSE,in the DARK... I bet you will see a SPARK, when your COMPRESSOR starts....

in 40 of traveling i have never and no one i know of in our rv circle hasent eather but its your choice

I have. The freezer is just fine but the fridge rather rapidly gets above the safe temperature for food storage.

Down here in the south, if you turn the fridge off, temps will rise above the "safe" level about the time you pull out the driveway.

I never did. However, on my latest RV, it automatically shuts if off for 15 minutes when the ignition is turned off. So, its done by default....as long as I don't take longer than 15 minutes to fill up ;)

Now this may vary from coach to coach but on my coach the Fuel Cap (Gasoline) is below and well behind tghe Fridge (Over six feet) Gasoline vapor is heavier than air to the ODDS of the Fridge ignighting the vapors at fill up is negligable.

That said, it's very easy to hit the STORE side of my 12 volt battery disconnect (Which completly shuts off the fridge) as I exit and USE after I pay for it.

As to a fridge starting a fire at a gas station.. I will tell you how it CAN happen.

First: Fridge catches fire: THEN it spreads. (Method 1)

Method 2: RVER with license plate 1D 10 T Sprays raw gasoline all over side of coach including FRIDGE.
