Today I found that the exhaust pipe to the generator had come lose from rhe engine. The pipe slides up and over another pipe inside the box. There is very little area to grip but a clamp is there trying to hold things in place. I decided to replace the pipe and clamp but have met a brick wall trying to find one.
I started by calling the manufacturer
Generac and was told that they don't sell to individuals but gave me a list of dealers in our area. In addition I was told of an on-line site
ordertree.com I was also given the Generac part number.
I called the 3 dealers and got on-line ..... met with a big zero.
The little girl in the
Camping World parts department wasn't sure what an exhaust pipe was and had no interest in trying to help me. At
General RV that person, had no idea where to get such a thing even though I gave her the Generac serial number, model number and the part number to which she told me they were terribly busy because of the holiday weekend but would call me by days end ..... No call :(.....
They called and suggested I call Mikes Muffler in BarbertonAvalon RV parts department didn't answer the phone and I was given "voice mail" to which I left my name and number.... No call
๐The electric comany on the list "Don't mess with RV stuff"
ordertree.com seemed to be my best bet however when I entered the requested numbers, including the Generac part number nothing happened. Since there is no phone number listed, I sent an e-mail asking for help ...... no reponse yet
๐ Sent me an e-mail with a phone number that would help me ..... DisconnectedI realize a small 16" pipe is no big dollar windfall for these companies but where is the customer service aspect.
Sorry for the rant ... I feel better now but am still pipeless
=======================================================
Update: This morning I found a site that may have the pipe I'm after. Only one hitch...... Cost :E The pipe (all 16") is $34.95 plus $20 shipping :R I have found a much better solution ....
Mikes Muffler in Barberton will duplicate what I have for about $20. I know that figure seems high but when you're "up against the wall" you just take a deep breath and hand over the dough.
