- souraiderExplorerI would have either backed it into a driveway and out, or backed it completely out of the street if needed.

My driveway is no longer than this street is wide, and I manage to get our 30-footer next to the garage on the first shot most times...
Here you go!
http://bennyhillifier.com/?id=EIHrzcrB_3E - mileshuffExplorerDidn't have to back very far to reach a street that gave him enough room. Other than that, why didn't he simply unhitch and push the trailer around since its a rather light trailer. I used to do that with my old TT to get in and out of some awkward remote camp spots.
- mtofell1ExplorerAt least the scenery around him was nice. That's Cannon Beach on the Oregon Coast - about a 1.5 hours out of Portland. I've probably stayed in the hotel the video was shot from. There are a lot of dead end streets around there and I can see how he got into that mess (not excusing the poor attempt to get out, though).
- RoyFExplorerproxim2022's post reinforces what I have been thinking all along: if you have no other choice than to turn around, it can be done in less space by backing up first. By backing, if you can get a 90-degree angle with the trailer (some of us can, anyway), the rest is back-and-forth with the tow vehicle. That's hard on trailer tires, but there was no other choice.

- coolbreeze01ExplorerThe guy must be saving brain cells for something important. Certainly not using many on driving.
- gijoecamExplorerI'm almost sure that if he had just driven up on the sidewalk on the far side, he could have just cut the wheel, put the nose on the near sidewalk, and driven it right around...
- ve7prtExplorerOn his first attempt (looking out to the left) it seemed he couldn't quite get the trailer to swing the way he wanted. In the second attempt (looking to the right) he would've made it right around if it hadn't been for that danged car in his way. Too bad none of the on-lookers owned it and could've moved it.
Overall, though, his third attempt (backing straight down the street) was the best option. I'm thinking he was new at the trailering experience, and as such didn't realize that was the easiest. Hope he went away from that experience with a little more knowledge under his belt.
Cheers!

You volunteering to loan your trailer for the cause?
Well there's always U-haul or purchasing one of those cheap utility trailers you see at Harbor Freight or Northern Tool. Either way it's money well spent. It's a cheap way to teach yourself or others. Once you've mastered the short ones, the longer ones are a breeze. This guy looks like he struggles with the basic fundamentals. Several times he backs and pulls forward with the wheel cut in the same direction.
