Gas Tank Scraping on Driveway

My driveway is steep at the top and then levels out at the bottom. My RV's gas tank scrapes near the transition when I back it in. I made some ramps that lift the rear wheels about 3 inches and could also fill in the transition area with asphalt. However, I noticed there is a significant gap between the top of the gas tank and the floor of the RV. It seems to me as if the gas tank is way too low. Is there anything wrong with raising the tank up between the frame rails by about 3.5 inches?
  • i suggest some "air springs" aka air bag lifts
most of them will provide 3" of lift,
should be easier to install air lifts, than raising the tank
  • Just for reference, how many times have you scrapped your gasoline tank on your driveway?
  • There's nothing wrong with raising the tank. But, you have to take into account the filler neck position.
You want to have enough down flow to avoid fuel backing up in the filler pipe.
