Generator Question

Newb here with a generator question. I received the following Champion generator as a gift.

1. Is this sufficient enough to run power on a 24' trailer (lights, accessories, ac, etc)?
2. Will this unit be too loud for campgrounds? I don't want to be "that guy" lol.

Last year, some RVers I've enjoyed tent camping next to for years, kinda lost their collective minds.
Family differences in politics resulting in one brother leaving early with a sure to linger thru holiday get-togethers barb at his wife's appearance (the "debate" was going on at midnight); walking through sites, permanently hooking up their RVs to the water spigot shared by 2 sites and finally, the last straw: a new Champion generator, LOL.

Upshot? This year we're doing our long trip in a different state,;).

I won it in a raffle so it was free. Actually just thinking about selling it and buying a quieter one. Maybe Honda?

Check out the reviews of the Champion 2000 inverter generator. You will be impressed by the reviews, db rating and the price.

Is it legal..Yes
It happens to be well made, and will work very well
And use depends on where you go camping, and how crowded it is etc...

The noise police would have you think it sounds like a chainsaw
it does not

They would also have you think two Hondas running an A/C unit is whisper quiet
They are Not

Everything is a compromise

Thank you! Just the answer I was looking for.

Thanks for the honesty! Like I said, I'm new to the rv/trailer scene. What db rating should I be looking at? And is 2k watt enough power or should I look for something bigger?

If you have a 30 amp RV that is the same as 3,600 watts.

A 2,000 watt generator most likely will not run your air conditioner without modifications.

Many use two 2,000 watt generators and pair them together with a kit when needed to run the A/C.

For anything other than generic answers create a profile or signature line detailing what you have. When asking tech questions the more info you can give is better. For instance, how many BTU is your A/C unit?

Thank you! I thought about running the 2 2k gens paired. Plus they're a lot easier to carry! I'm working on the signature line now. I am a newbie, so I'm sure Ill have a ton of questions. I'm hoping people like yourself to offer up real life experiences. Oh and the AC is 13.5k ๐Ÿ™‚

I'll take it off your hands and give you a fair price for it. It'll run my RV.

It might not be as loud as you expect. I've had a similar one (might be the same)for years. I have it mainly to hook up to the transfer switch at home to power a few essential circuits during a power outage. I haven't used it recently, but I don't recall it being excessively loud. If you check the specs, the decibel rating is the same as an Onan QG 4.0 RV generator.

Now I'm curious. When I get the MH out of storage in a couple of months I'll have to fire up both generators and compare.

To use an AC, you need to look up the locked amp rating of your AC. Then size a generator to at least match that number. As for db ratings? Quietest one you can find. If you do not understand db ratings,do yourself a favor and do a web search and read up.
