Good Sam Trip Planner - time to put your input!

Just did my trip planning -- and this is not how it's not going to be.

Used RV Parky, then found out some state/national parks are not even included and would only provide a straight line even for well-known routes.

Ended up with supplementing with Google Maps, All Stays (which won't do search using SP's name or zip codes) and, finally, with Excel for the mileage tracking.

That's nearly a half day affair for a 41 day trip.

Still hopeful that GS will provide these features together with what they already have.

We do all of our trip planning with Garmin's free BaseCamp program. Once we set up a route, we can then upload it into our Garmin.

I liked the Good Sam trip planner before they changed it, it just hasn't been very good for the last few years in my opinion. Maybe they will get it better again? I still belong and have their towing insurance but am thinking about trying another service.

And to all, everyone wishes it will be a much improved version containing all the features we love on most planner and campground search sites -- and won't get disappointed again this time around.

The vendor raised licensing prices and they had not planned for a replacement. I did get accustomed to using the planner and will miss it. I really doubt that they will have anything in place in the near future. I am planning on letting my GS membership expire and just get another planning tool. I started messing around with Rand McNally trip maker-- seems to work OK, but missing things like listing RV parks near the planed route.

I've started using RV Trip Wizard and find it a much better program. But, it isn't free. If I continue to use it in the coming months, I'm pretty sure that I'll cough up the yearly fee ($39).

Don't understand why they needed to remove the old one before a replacement was ready to replace it. I used it fairly often to route potential trips and research my options. Looking forward to the new 'improved' version.
