It costs more money for a death row inmate than a life in prison inmate. They eat up a lot more free lawyer money with extensive appeals.

Cost a million bucks for his third trial ALONE, at which the jury finally put an end to the bleeding by deadlocking on the death issue, permanently derailing the State-Funded Lawyers' Gravy Train. Automatic life by default.
He died in prison in 2006, TWENTY-FIVE YEARS after the murders he was guilty of.
