I've been lurking in the forums a lot lately looking for a solution. Here in the Midwest, we seem to be stuck inside some sort of twilight zone scenario where it randomly changes between snot freezing, cold windy weather followed by 1 or 2 days of warmer 40's weather, followed by 1 days of good weather and then a repeating cycle. From one day to the next there is no consistency. What I'm trying to figure out is what folks do to entertain themselves without blowing a gasket while thinking about camping. I've been on Amazon looking for toys, surfed the forums and even looked through photo albums both online and the old fashioned hard copies in the albums that she made for me.I see folks down South (way down yonder) and folks out West have decent weather but very dry, folks out East are getting clobbered by lots of snow (so at least they have something to keep their mind occupied) but here...nothing entertaining. Anything else I can try? I want to go camping!

You are suffering from "hitchitus" unfortunately there is no cure. You are left to lurk the forums, plan trips for the spring, and prepare for when the weather allows you once again to camp.Yesterday was 30 and today is 4 degrees with drifting blowing snow. My poor truck is buried in a snow bank and my RV is in the shop getting upgrades for the next season. All I can do is wait :(Dream of brighter, warmer days :)

So many of us feel your pain and are daydreaming about camping too.I guess I pass the time by checking things off my "to do" and "to buy" lists I made at the close of last season. I'm ready to buy those stocked items and am busy scanning the internet for the cool gadgets I've been wanting.We're fortunate to have 8 families who camp together. Come March we'll have a big pre-season kick off picnic. From there, it's another 3 weeks until the camper comes out of storage.We'll also hit the RV shows in the area even though we're not in the market. It's fun to give buying advice to our newbie friends.

You could go to an rv show , then you will really want to get out there . We do a few Shows and the forums, this one and a owners forum to get by , have taken up another hobby, RC helicopters which has a huge learning curve but I hope to fly while camping so Looking forward to that , but your just going to have to wait.

I do that regularly in the middle of a highrise in Manhattan. Sometimes I set up my tent and stage dinner parties, complete with "home movies"(alright it's my I phone) of past camping experiences. Yeah lots of my fiends think I'm crazy but ya never know when such an event will spark an outdoor fetish:W .

WOW! Only in Nebraska do we get an inch of ice and snow this morning and 55 degrees after work...in February. If that doesn't mess with your spring fever nothing will.

I have (building envy):B. If I had a heated building I could install the Onan and equiflex on my trailer. Instead I get to use the snowblower to get rid of a foot of snow.

Agree, it's the perfect "MAN CAVE"...but you didn't mention if the bar was stocked....:W......Dennis

Fully. In a previous life, I was a bartender. A few single malt scotches under lock and key (I don't cast pearls before swine). Also a rolling waist high insulated cart that holds about 4 cases of beer plus ice, a couple of mini fridges behind the bar for lemons, limes, mixers, and bottled beer. Also a movie theater style popcorn machine, a pool table, a six seat poker table, several long tables and chairs for about 60, and a striper pole, left over from the brass rail on the bar. (No takers yet, but if you build it, they will come.)

It's too early to think winter is about over. In this area snow can happen into May so...calm down or go winter camping.

Actually, we camped last year at Waubonsie State Park during the Apple Jack Festival. We had a blast. The park was packed and everyone mingled from campground to campground carrying chairs and their favorite beverage. The park ranger stopped and chatting several times too. They need to make that campground bigger!

My issue is the RV is winterized and while it is still in the yard, I don't want to battle the wind and snow (Nebraska City is getting it as we speak). I don't go camping to sit in the camper, I go to enjoy the outdoors and ride the bike. That's not happening now.

How do you get 40F? We consider it warm when we get to double digits. Yesterday hit 23 so we were out in shorts. For Jan we 5.5' of snow and around 8' for the season so far. At Church for choir last week someone said we only had 2 days without snow in Jan, and no one could remember which 2. Another 20F day today so out with the shorts again.

If its in a storage site, on those few days when it clears out...hook up and go somewhere local...Victorian Acres in Nebraska City is fairly close and quiet.
