Honey Wagon/Blue Boy

I was wondering how the people with SUV's deal with their honey wagons. I'm stuck on the thought of loading the turd wagon in the back of the SUV with the wife and kids.

Where do you keep yours?

When "stowing" the tank, I make sure it is sealed. When putting the tank away for a long time, I run a heavy bleach solution through it, making sure the bleachwater gets everywhere inside, let it sit for a day or so, then empty it, rinse it out, and then put it away for the season.

One of the things you do when you "Stow" the tank is seal it, AIR TIGHT, no stink at all, it is closed. no vent.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

Maybe a platform on the back of the tt that you can fold and pin it out of the way while camped.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I don't have a ladder on my trailer unfortunately. I never considered the roof rack, I'll have to see about getting it up there without a ladder. When I get to check out the trailer again I'll have to see about putting it between the propane tanks and battery.

We do not make any real attempt at keeping food scraps out of the sink when doing dishes (like pre-wiping them with a paper towel into the garbage) any different than we do at home.

But I feel like even our shower's gray water stinks.

We've never done the Clorox/bleach thing with them.

I have seen folding trailers from Yakima (their model is the Rackandroll) that might be storable in the travel trailer or a cargo rack (it folds up and weighs 150 pounds), then set up to be used for towing the blue boy long distances and on the highway.

Another idea is to get a rear hitch mounted to a travel trailer, use that for a hitch mounted cargo rack with a fold-out ramp. Carry the "blue boy" on that. Then, when you need to take the carrier to the dump station, move the cargo rack from the hitch on the TT to the hitch on the SUV, dump water into the "blue boy", wheel the carrier onto the hitch rack, secure it down, then drive to a dump station.

I strap mine either to the A-frame or the bike rack! The majority of the people only use it for grey water. I personally would never use it for black water, too much of a mess if overflowed!

Dan, black or gray - they both stink to high heaven. ๐Ÿ™‚

Getting it to/from the campground with the camper- either rear ladder or maybe even on top of the SUV. Otherwise, in the camper door - last in/first out kind of thing.

Getting it around the campground, just pull it behind the SUV. Or suck it up and put it in the back. When I had a cassette potty in my pop-up (which we used for pee-pees only), I'd just put it in the back of the Durango and drive to the dump station. I took it easy and was usually alone in my dumping duties. We generally had to dump it every other day if I was working from the camper or we had a bunch with us or whatnot.

first, the majority of us that have tote tanks, use it strictly for GRAY water, NOT black water.
not saying you can't but the gray tank will fill way faster than nearly any black tank, in comparison.

so, i don't have to have such worries, since i would never use mine for the black water. it would take us several weeks of camping, to fill our black tank, whereas we'd be lucky to go 5 days before the gray tank would be full.

are you a new RV owner, because many newbies focus on the black tank, when it should be the gray tank you should be focusing on.

I think the OP is talking about hauling it to the CG - I'm sure he isn't planning on towing it there ๐Ÿ˜›

How about putting it in a big plastic yard leaf bag? If too big, pull one over the top, turn it over and pull another over the bottom, and then use masking tape where the two bags overlap?

Load it first, so it will be flat. Or, consider getting luggage racks for the top of your TV and strapping it to them - they are not very heavy.
