Honey Wagon/Blue Boy

I was wondering how the people with SUV's deal with their honey wagons. I'm stuck on the thought of loading the turd wagon in the back of the SUV with the wife and kids.

Where do you keep yours?

Rubber seals (as in valve seals) and bleach. Not sure about you, but we have read and heard enough times that bleach will destroy seals over time that we don't use it.

I build a rack that is attached to the frame and bumper of the trailer where my 25 gal. blue boy stays until I need it. I'm using something called a tow strap loop that connects in the TV's hitch and then goes through the blue boys handle so it can't come loose. I almost made some tent campers very unhappy when the blue boy come of the ball hitch, if it hadn't caught on the sway bar ball that thing would of gone right through the tent camping area, and it was full from both tanks.

There is room between our propane tank cover and the front of our camper, so we bungee it there (bungeed to the propane tank cover).

DH built a rack using angle iron, welded together, and bolted it to the frame under the fiver behind the spare tire. As we rarely use it (haven't been able to boondock for awhile), it is out of sight and out of mind until we do need it.

I refused to look at it out my living room window...works well for us!

Grey can definitely stink big time! But black or grey is fine when transporting its not heavy and just seal up tight and put it were ever you can. No big deal. I kept mine on the roof of my TC strapped to the rail around the back.

not saying you can't but the gray tank will fill way faster than nearly any black tank, in comparison.

so, i don't have to have such worries, since i would never use mine for the black water. it would take us several weeks of camping, to fill our black tank, whereas we'd be lucky to go 5 days before the gray tank would be full.

are you a new RV owner, because many newbies focus on the black tank, when it should be the gray tank you should be focusing on.

Can you provide any statistics to prove your "majority" statement. The blue tote is designed to haul waste be it gray or black. I would think that if you can go weeks without filling your black tank that you have one huge tank or you are not using it very often. Since you use the word we, I assume there is more than one person. My family typically camps with 4 people. Do some math, a decent flush will use about a quart of water. If each person flushes 4 times a day, not unreasonable, a 40 gal tank will fill in 10 days.

I never use my tote for black water. I have never stayed anywhere long enough to fill my black tank. Does put me in the majority? Not sure it matters. We all have different camping styles, however I imagine most transient campers do not use their totes for black water while many seasonals do.
Back to the OP's question
When I towed my camper with an SUV I carried tote on rear ladder as shown below

Both waste tank contents do indeed stink to high heaven. We haul ours in the lower storage bay. After it is used the last time we clean with heavy duty cleaner & bleach, allow to air dry and load it up. At the campground (we do have to use if for both tanks while at our favorite state park) we keep it under the coach (tie it down if its windy). And before we leave we give it another thorough cleaning.

You can put them on the ladder but we'd prefer to not have it out there in the wind just in case we need it and many time we don't so having it clean and dry in the lower bay works best for us.

When full, need to be dump, I agree...use a hook intended for the matter and hook it to a hitch and tow it to the dump station.

i have a short/wide thule roof top container. I have 25 gallon tote n store, it fits perfectly(empty of course) inside of the roof pod. I throw the mat and other dirty items up there. I have wide bars on the sub to carry the pod, canoe, and one bike.
