YES...either Suburban or Atwood will fire (light off the porpane0 or electric element) if either are turned on W/O water in the WH Tank
If you drain it.....
Open the AC Circuit Breaker for the ELEMENT and remove Spark Electrode For SUBURBAN Model
Pull the 2A fuse on water heater circuit board for ATWOOD Model
*That stops AC & LP from functioning
If you turn on the Electric element W/O water ---it will burn up within a few minutes------have to replace element
If you turn on the LP it will fire and the Tank will get REAL hot REAL quick and the T-stat will OPEN stopping the firing
**If that happens let it cool naturally...do NOT fill with water until cooled down---you will damage the tank/tank lining
Water is only COLD upon initial filling.....reheat occurs when water temp gets to 110*F....that is still considered HOT
So get off the semantics Sheesh.
