I made that mistake once, fueled up in Florida, then crossed into Georgia. felt like dumping my Florida gas on the ground and run the rv on GA gas. :)

Fixed part of that for you. Gas is one product that is always being refined. It is used in the larger process of refining oil in the catalytic process. Storage quantities dictate (a lot) what the end price will be to the user. Holidays are always a scaled uptick in price.

Lack of production, low storage quantities, and a Holiday weekend make a perfect storm for price spikes. Without Harvey, we all would have seen $.10 increase this weekend.

Using Gas Buddy will make you feel better but overall cost of differing gas prices along your route will be negligible.

It' $2.79 at most stations here in Anchopage.

Well there are many things that affect gas prices. I have not yet seen the big jump I expected or perhaps I did a month ago in preperation.. But I'd not be surprised to see 3.00 to 4.00/gallon before Houston comes back on line.

Now if you wish to know why.. I'm afraid I can not give the answer here.

A Mobil is the best deal near us. $3.00 this morning.

here in my area we have a refinery, plenty of oil wells ,and it still spikes , some body gonna pay for the clean up. and were 1000 miles from texas.
