How long have you had your current RV?

I was watching videos today on RV buying. One interesting comment was "the average person keeps their RV for 2.5 years." Struck me as kind of odd since we had our for 10+ years before a hurricane destroyed it.

So, how long have you had your current RV?

4 in the last 10 years, trading up until we got what we wanted. This one, we will keep. Sometimes if you have a specific application, it takes a little while to get situated on the needs and wants. I have camped in a camper most of my life, I bought a new 38 ft fiver in 08, kept it until 2012 and decided to go toy hauler, built one, sold it.. bought one and spent too much time on the road for the space we had and then got this one.

Interesting topic. We bought our 2003 Itasca 30 ft. Class C in the Fall of 2013; so 5 years. No plans to trade. At 75 years it could be our last? We've had 5 previous "RVs" over 45 years kept from 7 to 2 years. They are like cars/SUVs, etc. only more so, in that it's very expensive to buy new and only keep for 2 or 3 years because of the high price and depreciation. It's good to be pretty sure you want and like what you get or that you will decide to like it for awhile. We paid $23000 and now it might be worth 9 or 10 K but imagine if we had bought it new and kept it for 2 years. Ouch.

Weโ€™ve only had ours 5 1/2 years, though itโ€™s an โ€˜04 Model. With over 30 years of RV experience, we had a list of must haves....this one had it all, at a price we could afford. We plan to keep this one until our rvโ€™ing days are done. We hope to make it last at least another 15 years.....weโ€™re doing everything we can do it make it last that long!
If we make it , we will have had it 21 years.....and it will be about 34 years old!

We may have to put on new tires befor then!

Guess I'll chime in, we've had 6 RV's since 1998. Mostly because of changes in lifestyle.

We were married in 96 and tented for 2 years. 1998 we bought a very barebones popup, had it for a year and wife wanted a change. only a 6' box.

1999 we had a popup with a pullout, I thought it was great. 10' box meant more room for us and the kids. Took really good care of that and sold it for almost exactly what we paid for it.

I think in 2003 we decided a hardsided was better - wife was complaining she couldn't sleep well in the popup and late fall camping was using a lot of propane. Bought a Rockwood 2605.

2006 - after having the Rockwood demolished in an accident, we purchased a Wildwood 29FKSS. Liked that model too, worked well for us until 2008 when we decided to tow less and put that in our seasonal lot.

in 2010, we bought a Dutchmen 40 RLP. Worked well at our seasonal campground, but the bedroom was in the front. Another negative was that the plow passing in front of the camper would occasionally throw rocks up and ding the camper. When the front window was broken by a rock, wife had enough and started looking for another one.

Our current "RV" is a park model from 2015 but I've been itching to explore again. We're going to be keeping the park model for some time.

Would still have had the second one, but for the fact it went thru a hail storm and looked like a golf ball and the cost to reskin was just too much and it was time to get something that looked at least 1/2 way decent.

We have had our TC for 5 years, bought it new. Previous to that we had a 5th wheel for 7 years. There were TTs, TC, and a class C before that. I think we are so spoiled with the TC due to travel and set up it will be awhile before we do anything different.

Our first TT was a used Award TT 25ft. had it for a year and a half. then we bought a new 05 28ft Cherokee with bunks and a slide. It was nice but we wanted a real bedroom. So we bought our current 07 (purchased in July 06) 32ft Cherokee with a front bedroom and rear bunkroom and a super slide. We will hopefully be going into a DP in a couple years. so I need this to last that much longer. its all in the maint.!
