Lowsuv
Sep 26, 2014Explorer
I have been a trailer sailor all of my life .
My eighth and last boat my son and I picked up in a blizzard Christmas week in 1991 .
Seaswirl Spyder 179 outboard with the 168 HP GT bass motor .
Like everything else I own it is a spoiled Hangar Queen .
It is brand new , still .
Until just recently I was a slalom course skier behind other friends tournament boats .
For the last 15 years my little low profile boat has become pretty much a swim platform .
She does an easy 46 mph with the Bimini Top up and four on board but mostly trolls along at 4 knots .
I never drive any more , the gals lounge in the open bow , my adult son cruises us , and I deal with the water toys, boat fenders , and gunkhole anchor positioning .
Launch and retrieval is a 4 minute exercise because I deal with the truck /trailer parking . Drive On / Drive Off .
At 68 it is the best boating yet , even better than the days of glass water at 6 am .
