I wonder if they decided to use a normal water pump... the words "intrinsically safe" apparently have zero meaning to those guys, especially with the buildup of gasoline vapor. All it takes is a switch flipping on or off making a brief imperceptible spark...

I have seen a couple of stories like that over the years.. Different locations as i recall.

As for the person who complained about the use of "Siphoning".. yes. Siphon is not the proper word.. but remember the talking heads know nothing and the copy writers are not much better. They think Siphoning is a synonym of "Stealing".

Please send that complaint to the author's employer.
