I don't know much about workamping but....

If you help out a little while vacationing, and the owner is appreciative and gives you discounts, complimentary things -- I cannot see it as a problem. But then I do not know what complications you were referring to nor the rules/regs... If I am your neighbor while we are camping and you help me out -- so I pay your bill for your stay -- whose business is it?

I know lots of Canadians who work in the U.S. -- guess wherever you go, be sure to research what problems may arise so they may be addressed. Many problems for some people I know (U.S. citizens) are addressed by fact they do not receive $$ BUT they do receive other things -- or they are hired as couple and bigger portion may go to the spouse, etc.

If you work hard enough and look long enough I suppose you could find complications to just about anything in life. Or you can spend the winter in Mexico. .

It depends what you are looking for in choosing where you will workkamp OR who you will choose to be a workkamper.

There is a wide variety of opportunities -- you just have to choose what is right for you. Some people are younger and looking for an adventure, some are wanting to earn a living. Some people only want to cover their vacation and thereby work minimal hours.

There are many positions i.e. National Parks that are VOLUNTEER. Some give amenities in ADDITION to wage (most of those are minimum wage that I have come across) Some expect you to work a certain number of hours in order to cover your site/expenses and THEN pay for additional hours.

When we first started we got into a lot of hours and work. Now our focus is less hours, less strenuous/physical labor. Amenities are very important to us. Friends we have who have been co-workers look for as many hours each as possible and PAID.

Different strokes for different folks. Good luck to ALL.

Not including utilities is ALWAYS a deal breaker for me! As long as there are people willing to work for $3-$4 per hour there will continue to be companies soliciting such! It is my opinion that too many RV parks expect a high level employee while only wanting to pay minimum wage or less!

I BELIEVE you! I am anxious to work Mexico. Part of our problem is we ARE currently working in South Dakota - so it is a much further trip than originally planned.

I am certain things will work out on your part. btw -- one of the best RV Resorts in Yuma AZ does it the way I had suggested. They provide up to #125/mo utilities (that is electric and water) plus other amenities (but also need to put in more work/hours).

GOOD LUCK! And let us know what happens -- remember there are many great places to advertise for FREE. People are starting to plan ahead for winter. You may want to start putting feelers out there and then follow up again later.

For many who visit mexico the first time, there are the jitters and being a bit unsure of who, what, when, where. and how. Usually in 2 or 3 weeks they realize how easy and fun the whole thing is and travel far beyond their original plans.
Have fun this winter, may be next year for work camping, if things work out on my part.

We personally would not do it for this coming winter - although we already considering possibilities - simply because would be our first trip to Mexico and Rob does not want to go that far as of yet.

Definitely include ELECTRIC. You can say includes up to $______ electric and person will be responsible for paying remainder. The MORE things you include the better... i.e. site, laundry, electric, propane, wifi, cable etc. but you can put parameters on these.

Make sure to tell them re the higher electric bills and if at all possible give them an example of a bill for a guide i.e. one month using _____kWH was $ ______. This bill was for person who had 40 ft motor coach with 2 air conditioners....
