Thought I'd start a new topic for Gate Guards to use for comments. Like the moderator suggested-keep technical stuff, recipes, mechanical, etc. where they belong. Lets hear from everyone sucking down that caliche dust.

...........Just too clarify......My (4) listed items were....NOT....specifically referenced too any Particular company , Rather I posted them because they seemed to me to be the most logical reasons that a GG team would experience prior to looking for employment with another GG company !!
............Additionally , some GG teams will , at some point be subjected too poor service by service personnel regardless of the GG company they work for ! Some workers just don't care and so someone is going to receive poor service , from time to time . , jf

Well, they are now using service people in trucks due to the lack of guards. I manned a gate alone as an emergency fill in for ten days. That was about my limit. You really need a closet full of clean clothes and cabinets full of groceries before you start. The ability to cat nap is a bonus. My company was very supportive and offered to get me relief if I needed it. A lot of guards/companies arrange for some one to relieve them for shopping or laundry when working alone. As an aside; let me say that showers and bathroom breaks can be challenging when working alone. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Well; if you're getting paid more, so what. Actually, we have found the gates we work to be quite similar to the "lower paid" gates. Our equipment has been first rate, too. As I have said previously, loyalty or whatever is keeping you where you are, is admirable. I; however, am here to make money and an extra paycheck a month goes a long way. Just sayin'!

We'e been with GGS over 1 1/2 years and have had excellent service working out of the Whitsett yard. Their equipment sure looks better than any others I've seen out there.

Well, after 3 rigs with GGS, that certainly hasn't been our experience. Jamie and all the support people have always been very responsive to anything we need.

As far as the "low pay", LOMA told us in April they were no longer paying $150, just $125 for all new hires. And from talking to other gate guards we know, it seems like the higher the pay, the lower the service and support.

It seems that Loma has no real base pay based on what we experienced with them and what we've heard from other Gate Guards working/or did work for Loma.

As for poor service Loma's maintenance man we understand was terminate from Timekeepers which had developed a reputation for poor service. At one time Loma's fuel and water delivery was being handled by one person trying to service about 60 gates. You never really knew when he was going to show up.

I have been with GGS only this year but
Low pay....what do you expect for just registering license plates?
Bad service....I don't blame the service men they work very hard to keep up.
We did have a time when we were getting bad service but not because the service people won't work....our service man was being put on a gate where they had no Gate Guards.
I am pleased with the work, pay and service we get from Corrizzo Springs.

GGS have been with them for 2 years and none of the problems mentioned or listed. Gen was always working and serviced on regular basis. Sewage was pumped as requested...water delivered when nearly out. Pay always on time. Roger has been my contact and know with expansion of the oil business and the picking up of new gates that they are working many hours to keep up.

When we return this Fall it is with the idea of still working for them. As for a single person on a gate....I do not know how that works...Not the norm but because of the need...there are people trying to man the gate being single person.

Most of the "snowbirds" left...we left June 1st as planned. I know of a couple more that are leaving for the summer. Employment is good in TX Oil Field.

Sorry some of you have had bad experiences with gates and GGS but I know of many that will return this Fall and Winter months.
