His picture is just about everywhere in CW and related enterprises. If he is planning on a political run - OK I understand - but maybe it's time change. How about the employees? I am sure some have made significant achievements in donating their time and effort. Maybe saved a life or some other heroic action. Veterans. How about our input on outstanding employees. Considering the number of employees - there have got to be some really amazing stories.

You gotta admit that Marcus came along at a good time in the life of the Good Sam Club. They were on the skids and he has pulled them back. It may be time to loosen the reins and use the Co. talent whether it is @ Good Sam or Camping World.

I hate those guys like Marcus that are driven to succeed and work 70+ hours a week, something the rest of us are unwilling to do.

Hi OP here! It is not my intention to find fault with the way Marcus runs his business. Lee Iacocca was, I believe the first executive to serve as spokesman for his company and I think he did a great job. What Marcus is doing is really nothing new. It is just my humble opinion that any executive that is working hard to turn a business around might be well served to recognize the people that really can implement his plans. I had several bad encounters with CW early on with our first class A - bad enough that I never used CW for anything else in over 40,000 miles of travel. Time passed and Marcus came on the scene. I decided that buying a new RV from local CW would be reasonably safe thing to do with Thor as back-up. The sale went as good as I could have asked. OK next step - warranty service. and again it was a reasonably smooth event and I might add employees up and down the line were great. So far Marcus seems to be getting things turned around. So my question was - who can best finish the job - Marcus or the employees? If the answer is employees - where is a good place to start?

If those businesses fail, ALL the employees will be out of work, as well as the owners will be out looking for a job. From what I have seen from the "Profit", Marcus spends much more time reeling in the spending and waste of the owners than he ever does cutting staff to save money.
Business pricing is not always a race to the bottom where the lowest price wins. Many of the highly successful companies have no interest in being the low cost provider. Apple, Nordstroms, Mercedes, Coca Cola and Whole Foods are all very successful companies who could never compete if price was the only concern. Camping World is successful because they have big inventory and fill that need for instant gratification. Sure you can save a couple of bucks on your widget by ordering it off the internet, but you can't pick it up today and use it tonight. Retailing in the US is a big tent, with room for many different sales philosophies. There is no one right way to market products and services.

I think the OPs suggestion is a valid one. Especially that his employees must volunteer some time each month. Employee recognition is something that too many employers forget about. An employee recognition board in each store takes up so little room and it would give us something to read while we are waiting in line...:W....

That said, my take is Marcus is promoting the fact that he's available to anyone who wants to take the time to email him. He's provided his personal email on this and other forums. What other CEO does that? He reads and answers those that take the time to write to him. I've done it and he's answered me promptly. I've also seen and talked to him at rallies and in several stores. Name recognition is good but face recognition is better still. now if he would just get rid of those outrageous colored tennies..:B..JMHO.....Dennis
