Just for fun

Forgive me if this is a completely stupid question (I'm new :))but , do any of you take your RV's somewhere just for fun? Not because you are going camping or getting gas or tires or whatever, but simply because you want to take it.

FWIW I'm giving serious thought to dragging our TT the 90 miles up to Portland for the Rose Festival Parade this year. Should look spectacular in the parking lot next to the strip clubs at 4th & Burnside where we watch the parade every year. ๐Ÿ˜„

I don't think either of us considers driving the MH around to be fun. The fun is when we get there. It's more fun because we don't have the hotel hassle and can spend all the time in exactly the spot where we want to be. I have a business trip coming up that I could do in one day, but we're going to take the MH and go from there to a nearby state park for the weekend. That one will involve the questionable "fun" (and expense) of taking the MH on a ferry.

We've used our motor home for double dates and to take several people to diner in Chicago. They had never been in a motor home before and loved it.
I had to send a aircraft propeller to get serviced in Toronto, instead we loaded it into the motor home, dropped it off at the prop shop, went to Niagara Falls for a few days, picked it up when it was done and headed home. I made some brownie points with the wife that trip!

If camping isn't "just for fun" what is it? Thought that was the whole idea.

If I understand your question, we have taken it to festivals also. My wife and a lady she works with went to a George Strait concert, It was 90 miles away so I suggested I drive them and take the 5er and we went to a nice campground on a Friday night and I took them to the venue and dropped them off on Saturday evening, and I went sightseeing till the concert was over and picked them up when it was over. No parking hassels. So we ended up staying Friday, Saturday night and left on Sunday morning. But if you mean to take it to get gas or just grocery shopping, then no, we dont do that!

Years ago we would take the TC to the drive in. Of course we were in the back row. Anyway, the kids would climb up on the bed and watch the movie out the front window. The slide window between the truck and camper was open so you could hear quite well. The bathroom was handy as well as our own snacks and coffee.

Camping is not "just for fun"? We love to take ours to music festivals. If you're allowed to camp on the festival grounds, you can walk back and forth to the concert, and have a couple of adult beverages without having to worry about having a designated driver.

Used to a lot, not so much anymore. Fuel prices are a little high to make it much "fun".

Yep, sometimes I bring it from the storage yard and park it out in the street, just to have it to look at! After a few days, I haul it back over to storage!
