Keeping Mice Out of Camper

We have a new 5th wheel and will be putting it away for winter storage within the next month. What do people suggest for keeping mice out of the camper during the winter months? Thank you for your help! 🙂

I use sticky traps in places where I can easily check their condition and if they have caught a mouse it is easy to remove and put in the trash. With poison the mouse can crawl off and die inside a wall or other inaccessible place or crawl off outside and poison your neighbor's cat - good or bad thing depending upon whether you want to protect the local bird population.

Great Stuff, and open all hidden access panels and the like to find the holes cut in the floor for plumbing and electrical runs.

What nobody says to use dryer sheets?? I use traps set with peanut butter and plenty of DeCon pellets in little boxes all over the place. Haven't seen any evidence, knock on wood. I know the little critters could stink up the place if they die inside but to me that's better than all the damage they can do.

I thought I had taken all the bedding but the mice built a nest out of the fiberglass insulation of the oven. At first I couldn't figure out what it was but I had to replace the oven insulation.

We stored our TC in our neighbor's shed with his RVs. We took everything out that could be used for bedding or food.

I don't know if it was luck, but we didn't have any mice this spring.

I got under my RV and looked for any openings into the RV. I filled them with expanding foam. People said the mice would chew their way thru it but that has not happened. One place I forgot to seal was where the power cord comes into the RV. I have since sealed that and so far so good. I keep a trap set up in the RV, mainly to tell be when mice have come in. Haven't caught a mouse in a couple of years.

Your best chance to "help" --clean the whole place very thoroughly (vacuum & wash out cabinets, drawers, under furniture, under sinks, etc.); I'd also put all your eating utensils and cookware that are in drawers in heavy plastic containers or remove them entirely or you will have to wash everything come spring); also suggest you seal up your toilet bowl by taping a piece of wood or you'll have dead mice floating in there come spring; fill P-traps with pink antifreeze then close stopper in all sinks (mice will need fluid so these sources are a draw); set many traps and check often; put out dryer sheets everywhere (helps the place smell nice and for some folks will actually deter mice, but hasn't in our case, just smells better); we put out packages of "Fresh Cab" (bought at Menards, so far it helps but did not keep them out 100%); if you live in a humid region set out dehumidifying containers and change as needed (however since these containers will fill with fluid as they work...they too can draw mice); remove anything silicone or foam rubber (mice ate the frying pan handle covers off); store all cotton items elsewhere (mice used the cotton fringe off my throw rugs for nesting, that goes for paper items too); and of course if you can find any small holes mice can get in to...fill them with steel scrubbies or at least steel wool).

do all the hints in mouse control. I use peppermint oil and kab clean in my rv and my boats stored in a pole bldg no mice. crawl under that rv and fill every hole ,if its the size of a dime a mouse can get in.

First thing to do is remove all food from the unit. Once that is gone they will have no reason to be in there. Some will say to put mouse or rat poison in the trailer. Problem with that is it will draw them into the trailer as it is made to be appealing to them. You don't want to draw them in there to poison them and have them die in the walls somewhere. When I say all food that includes dog food. Had friend leave a tupperware container with dog food in it. Mice chewed through the container to get to the food.
