Lodge 7pc Camp Set Clearance at Academy!

Just bought the set for $35.98 on clearance! Nice little starter set as well and wanted to let people know.
  • It must be in store only then. Mine had three sets.

I have often wanted to find some old pieces and clean and re-season. What should I look for in the old ones, to know it's a good one?

I use mostly lodge cast iron for all my cooking these days. A few black steel pans and a couple le crueset. I tried the flaxseed oil, but I prefer the vegetable oil, kosher salt and potato skin plan that I got from America's test kitchen. I then will hit it now and then with a super light coating of oil.

    This is the item:

  • Modern Lodge is too bumpy to suit me.

I look for old pre WWII pieces. I probably have twenty various size fry pans, Dutch ovens and griddles. I Clean them up, reseason and give them away.

If I get ambitious I’d like to construct an electrolyzing device to strip them to bare metal and reseason with flaxseed oil. I’ve seen some and it’s magical.

I have my grandfathers monster 16” fretting pan circa early 1900s.

    Mirror finish, frys like Teflon.
  • What does the set consist of? A little information is a wonderful thing. I take it you're talking about cast iron cookware?
