Maps with counties and/or cities & Interstates

With all the horrible weather related fatalities happening right now where do I get a map of the US listing the counties? I have found some online maps, but they don't list the major cities or interstates. Not much help when I'm trying to figure out the weather alerts on the radio. I'd like to either buy an atlas or if you can give me a website I'll print them individually if needed. Thanks.
  • Microsoft's Streets and Trips shows county names and boundaries on their maps.
  • We always carry AAA maps which show the counties as well as cities, highways, etc.

Also, remember that the NOAA radio stations don't necessarily cover the area you are in - see below for Colorado coverage -- white means signal, otherwise no signal:

  • I have found the maps shown. But I was wondering if there were any that had the major cities or interstates printed. Many people have mentioned "get maps with counties" but then I can't find any maps with the details we need as travelers.

I have printed the ones mentioned but wanted to find the detailed ones...
  • I usually use maps issued by the state highway department, which almost always include county lines and names.

NWS likes to issue watches and warnings by county, but here in the middle of the country where some of the counties are larger than some states in the East, we like a bit more detail on storm tracks and warning areas. But that requires being tuned to a TV station doing up to the minute tracking, and NWS radio warnings are by county.
  • Yup the first time I had tornado warnings and had no idea what county I was traveling thru, that sent me flying to get a county map! :B

Just plug in county map of 'whatever state' on google. And then print.
Until I found an atlas with them that is what I did.

Believe it or not the 'best' atlas's I found are at Kangaroo Gas Stations. It is the only place I can find real LARGE print atlas's. The print is bigger than any brand name maps I have bought.

BTW: If you are traveling thru Georgia you NEED a county map to know which way to go to avoid bad weather!!
I have never seen a state with SO many counties. :C
