We go 5+/- posted speed limit whether driving our automobiles or RVing. In the West where we do about 90 percent of our traveling, our 15" Maxxis ST tires have consistently seen 65mph, and truth be known, often times a bit more. Road and weather conditions primarily dictate how fast we tow.
Although this may come as a shock to some, the Maxxis tires didn't suddenly blow apart when we exceeded the mythical 65mph explosion phase. After 5 years of faithful duty, we can speak to no issues while towing under such extreme duress, not even a simple flat while sitting idle.
A few mph over on a quality, well cared for, and properly inflated ST tire will rarely cause catastrophic failure. Poor manufacturing/materials, under-inflation, and overloading are primary culprits. Although we'll never go that fast, our current set of ST tires are rated 20mph above 65mph.
