BarneyS,

Sounds like you are near West River Rd area. We'd camped, trail motor biked, snowmobiled, canoed, and even horse backed the area several times around the Brown Bridge Dam, Scheck's Place, Forks, and Ranch Rudolf area and got to know it quite well. Very nice large forested fun area. Of course, that was when we were younger and the joints worked better! Fond memories...

Many a night spent at Scheck's tubing and canoeing the Boardman.

Well now, Memorial Day was nice. Seems like we had the whole of Gros Morne NP in Newfoundland all to ourselves. Did not see a single other RVer during our drive through.

We did have the CG all to ourselves. Last night also, a CG all to ourselves. Tonight we have some company, 3 others at Viking RV park in Quirpon, NL.

Moving early in the season has its benefits.

Well, we are staying home for the 'official' Memorial Day weekend, but come the following Wednesday, we're taking the two great nieces (age 13) to Hot Springs, AR, to the BIG water park.

They are looking so forward to going in the motorhome (1st time). We'll have movie night ('Long, Long, trailer with Lucille Ball and Desi Arnez). We also have the movie 'RV' with Robin Williams.

This was planned purposely to avoid the heavy traffic of the holiday weekend.

Safe travels!

I know your area well .Love the state forest campgrounds on rivers.

You chose the best places there are....love them both! We volunteered 9 seasons at Sleeping Bear and have fished the Ausable. Enjoy.

Avoiding the masses and staying at home with our new RecTec Pellet smoker, a couple of 1-1/2" thick pork chops brined in curing salt, molasses, brown sugar & herbs with a Yeti full of adult beverages while plotting our route to hit the hard cruel road in a couple of weeks.
Gotta love it!

Home for me as well. Too busy on holiday weekends, quiet at home and I can entertain friends. I have two trips planned, one before the kids get out of school, one for after they go back. Retired elementary school teacher, so I avoid the busy times. Not that I don't love kids...

Are we the only ones going to a Memorial Day service? Our favorite is to drive up to the smokemont campground just north of Cherokee NC in the Great Smoky Mt Nat Park for the weekend. On Memorial Day we attend the Services in Cherokee. Many people do not realize how many Native Americans have sacrificed all in defense of our country.Everyone have a safe holiday.

This thread is just asking where you might be camping.

We are coming home on Sunday night. Our town has a parade and then multiple services on Monday... At town hall, at the large cemetery, and then to the water (Long Island Sound) to put ceremonial wreaths in.

So we will be "away" for the weekend, but won't miss the Memorial Day service in our town.
